1st XI 0-4 FC Nelson 1st XI

Location: Guppy Park

Goals:

Match MVP: Matt Jepson

Another week gone by and footy had returned on a stunner of a Saturday arvo at Guppy Park. The TFC firsts were keen to tip over the league leaders, despite them winning every single game this far.

The men in pink started well, the stronger of the two sides for the opening 15 minutes. But shots were saved, blocked or fired over the crossbar. A quick counter from the home side and just like that we found ourselves 1-0 down. Another break not long after saw goalkeeper Joe pounce on a loose ball. He might of got the man aswell as the ball, and the ref standing at halfway called for a penalty. A yellow card for both their number 7, for offering to show Seth around the car park as a post game tour, and one for Vice Captain Seth, for asking if Number 7 was alright after falling on his head. Luckily for Tahuna, the FC Nelson skipper showed great sportsmanship to miss the spot kick. To end the half, a mistake from Joe saw FC Nelson grab a second and the boys head into oranges unlucky to be 2 goals down.

We yet again started strong in the second half, with the home side only really pressuring the back line with counter attacks. About halfway through one of their counters paid off, and we were 3-0 down. A stunning free kick into the top corner saw the visitors off, 4-0 the final score.

Everyone put in an absolute shift all over the park in a game were the scoreline doesn't reflect the quality of both sides. Well done to FC Nelson, and their Second Division players for stepping up and helping them out.

2nd XI 2-0 Wakefield

Location: Wakefield

Goals: Gus Cruz (1), Sayha Mens (1)

Match MVP: Simon Petch

Struggling for numbers, Tahuna 2nd XI sent out an SOS and the 3rds came calling. Massive ups to Pedro, Sobi, Sayha and Diego for giving up their Saturday to come and help the boys.

Last time out, Tahuna snatched a 2-1 victory against the run of play. This week. Wakefield were out to get revenge. The opening exchanges were a lot of nothing, with both teams enjoying possession but doing little with it. Then Wakefield stepped up a gear. A one on one and a volley with an open goal saw two glorious chances for the tricky trees, but Will in nets repelled the danger. More pressure saw Sobi concede approximately 100 corners in a row, but we held tough and resetteled. Pedro was holding the ball up nicely, Mark looking dangerous, Sobi solid in the middle, Petch with the tricky left winger in his pocket. We came close too, with two great chances that could have seen two penalties awarded. Gus played in for the first and when through on goal seemed to be cleared out by the defender as he shaped to shoot, the other when Pedro was through on goal, but under pressure from the defender fired too close to the keeper.

Half time and the scores locked at 0-0.

Second half saw us get a bit more into a rythm, with Wakefield playing more on the counter. Gus opens the scoring with a tidy run and shot past the keeper. Not long after, Sayha, score on the rebound after the keeper had saved one of Gus' shots. Wakefield up the pressure as the game went on, but were unable to create any clear chances and the boys hold out for a deserved 2-0 victory.

Some great performances on the field. Petch facing off against a quick and tricky winger came out on top every time. Gus always a threat. Sobi solid all over the midfield, and Eric unfallible at the back, especially in the second half. Well done boys, another few points and we're safe for the season. Up up!

That was fun....but with a sad ending. Emily landed on her arm and snapped it below the wrist. We called the game when that happened. To be fair I would have screamed like a baby.....Emily didn't make a sound.....respect.

The game more or less went how I thought it would. I knew I was going to have a busy game and I did. The foxes were a lot younger and faster and had a pretty good passing game. We battled it out but were under pressure for most of the first half. We put them under a bit of pressure late in the half but didn't get a shot off. But we were stoked to go in 0-0 at half time.

Second half was much the same and about 15 mins in they finally put one past me. Good move, winger cut in I came out winger squares it to Center forward for a tap in to an open goal. I think the general mood was Woohoo it's only 1-0. We battled on and had a bit of a go at them again, then Emily tackled their winger and landed on her arm.

We worked hard but the fitness and positioning of the Foxes was too much, that's why they're second in the league. So great job keeping it level for so long and not crumbling when they scored. I think the way we were playing we could have kept them out for the rest of the 90.
