Finally the last game day of the year was upon us, and boy were the lads fizzing for it. After 2 hard earned draws against very tough opposition over the past few weeks, the lads in blue were set on finishing off the year with a win. Looking at the table, TFC needed to win by 2 to leapfrog today’s opponents on the ladder.
The game started very strongly for the visitors, opting to head into the wind and sunshine, to get it out of the way early. An entertaining first 30 saw TFC up 2-0! 2 very well taken goals from Mackenzie The GOAT Manaton got the away fans out of their seats. After some class build up play, especially from our right back Danny Hampton for the second goal, Macca saw himself one on one with the RFC Keeper both times. Almost identical finishes, except one on each boot calmly placed into the corner of the net - nothing the home keeper could do. Not long after, The Kiwi Robin Van Persie made his mark on Jubilee Park. An unusual run from James Owen down the left flank confused just about everyone. After enjoying his little adventure, James whipped in a beauty ball straight onto Seth's noggin (Captain Fantastic) who was waiting at the edge of the box. The ball cannoned off the skipper's dome, looping over the helpless home keeper, and much to everyone's surprise, into the back of the net! 3-0! Not long before halftime the home side grabbed one back. A few missed clearances turned into a shot from outside the box, parried by Joe who would’ve hoped to hold on to it. The loose ball was met by both Joe and the studs of a Richmond attacker, who then passed the ball into the net. Unfortunately the challenge was deemed fine by the ref and the outcome was a goal and a broken finger.
3-1 at half time, and the boys all knew we could play better football.
The second half started with the home side proving they won’t just roll over. Attack after attack was well dealt with and contained by the visitors. All until a late freekick just outside the 18 yard line was dispatched into the bottom corner by the home captain, 3-2. The boys then turned it up a notch, knowing the needed a second to jump ahead of their opponents on the table. With the time ticking closer and closer to the 90th minute a fourth goal looked unlikely, until the ball found its way to IT’s feet on the left hand wing. One touch to set the ball and then a rocket shot, through the legs of helpless defenders and the hands of the keeper and into the back of the net. A very fitting way for the only man to play every minute this season to finish it off.
A great game of football from both sides and great to end the season on a well deserved 3 points. UP UP!!! Match report by Joe Robertson.

A very nice game of football played in great spirits. More like a kick around than a serious game. Everyone got game time and enjoyed the sunshine. We finished 3rd and got joint top club Golden Boot, so that's a pretty good effort for our first season. Next season we win it and the cup, funnily enough Mapua who won the league never beat us. So rest up or stay fit with the Saturday kick around when we get it going.
