JUNIOR FOOTBALL

Join Tahuna FC for an exciting 2025 season of Junior Football! We welcome young players to be part of our First Kicks (4-6 years), Fun Football (7-8 years), and Junior Football (9-12 years) programmes. Registrations are open now!​​


2025 Fees:
First Kicks (4-6 years): $40
Fun Football (7-8 years): $60
Junior Football (9-12 years): $100

First Kicks Football (4-6 years)

Our First Kicks programme is tailored for our youngest footballers, aged 4-6 years. These sessions focus on fun and foundational skills through engaging drills and small-sided games.

Sessions are held at Tahuna S2 field (next to Te Pā Harakeke) on Saturdays from 9am-10am. Term 2 & Term 3 (break for July school holidays, Kings Birthday and Matariki weekends). 

Season: Starts Saturday 26 April​

Fun Football (7-8 years)

Fun Football is designed for children aged 7-8 years, providing a step up from First Kicks. These sessions include warm-ups, skill-building activities, and small-sided matches.

Sessions are held at Tahuna S2 field (next to Te Pā Harakeke) on Wednesdays from 4.30pm-5.30pm. Term 2 & Term 3 (break for holidays). Games are played at Saxton Field on Saturdays mornings from 10.15am - 11.15am

Games played during Kings Birthday and Matariki weekends, with no games during July school holidays. 

Season: Saturday 26 April.

Junior Football (9-12 years)

Our Junior Football programme is for players aged 9-12 years. Matches are held on Saturday mornings at various locations across Nelson Tasman, with training sessions during the week. The focus is on developing technical skills and enjoying the game, without the pressure of recorded results or standings.

Junior Football Age Groups and Formats:

  • 9th Grade: 7-a-side matches on small pitches (55m x 35m) with a size 3 ball, 20-minute halves.

  • 10th Grade: 7-a-side matches on small pitches (55m x 35m) with a size 4 ball, 25-minute halves.

  • 11th Grade: 9-a-side matches on medium pitches (70m x 50m) with a size 4 ball, 25-minute halves.

  • 12th Grade: 9-a-side matches on medium pitches (70m x 50m) with a size 4 ball, 30-minute halves.​

Games played during Kings Birthday and Matariki weekends, with no games during July school holidays.

At Tahuna FC, we believe in making football accessible to everyone. Our pricing is significantly lower than other local clubs because we are committed to creating a thriving community-based club. Our goal is to get more kids involved in football, building a supportive and inclusive environment.
 

Volunteer Support Needed

We rely on the support of parents and volunteers to run these sessions smoothly. If you can assist with activities during the sessions, please get in touch. No prior experience is required, just a willingness to help and support our young players.
