TFC CLUB CODE OF CONDUCT

1. Explanatory Foreword

The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to promote fair, ethical, and respectful treatment of all individuals and organisations associated with Tahuna Football Club (TFC). It serves as a guideline for behaviour and responsibilities within the club and aligns with New Zealand Football (NZF) principles.

All members, players, coaches, referees, administrators, parents, and supporters agree to abide by this Code of Conduct and acknowledge that breaches may result in disciplinary action in accordance with NZF and club policies.

This Code applies to all TFC members and participants in TFC activities, including players, coaches, officials, volunteers, and spectators.

2. General Conduct

All members and participants must:

  • Respect the rights, dignity, and worth of others.

  • Be fair, considerate, and honest in all interactions.

  • Act professionally and accept responsibility for their actions.

  • Adhere to the rules, regulations, and standards of TFC, NZF, and FIFA.

  • Immediately report breaches of the Code to the appropriate authority.

  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participants.

  • Reject discrimination, harassment, abuse, corruption, drugs, racism, and violence in football.

  • Promote the interests and positive image of football and TFC.

  • Refrain from using offensive language or engaging in unsporting behaviour.

  • Avoid any actions that may bring disrepute to TFC or NZF.

3. Players' Responsibilities

Players must:

  • Play to win but always with fairness and respect.

  • Accept all referee decisions without dissent.

  • Show respect for teammates, coaches, opponents, and officials.

  • Abide by the Laws of the Game.

  • Never engage in bullying, discrimination, or harassment.

  • Represent TFC positively both on and off the field.

  • Avoid inappropriate social media use that may damage the reputation of the club or individuals.

4. Coaches’ and Managers’ Responsibilities

Coaches and team managers must:

  • Prioritise the welfare, development, and enjoyment of players.

  • Encourage fair play and adherence to the rules.

  • Show respect towards referees, players, and other coaches.

  • Promote a safe and positive environment for all participants.

  • Refrain from any form of abuse, harassment, or discrimination.

  • Be positive role models, demonstrating professionalism and integrity.

  • Ensure that all players receive equal opportunities and support their development.

5. Referees' Responsibilities

Referees must:

  • Officiate matches fairly, safely, and in accordance with the Laws of the Game.

  • Treat all players and officials with respect.

  • Maintain impartiality and avoid conflicts of interest.

  • Promote respect for the game and uphold high ethical standards.

  • Maintain fitness and keep up with rule updates and best practices.

6. Parents’ and Guardians’ Responsibilities

Parents and guardians must:

  • Encourage children to enjoy the game and develop in a positive environment.

  • Support fair play and respect for all participants.

  • Refrain from yelling at, ridiculing, or criticising players or officials.

  • Respect the decisions of referees and coaches.

  • Model good sportsmanship and encourage appropriate behaviour in children.

7. Spectators' Responsibilities

Spectators must:

  • Support all players positively and refrain from any abusive or unsporting behaviour.

  • Respect referees’ decisions and refrain from dissent.

  • Avoid the use of offensive language or gestures.

  • Promote a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere at all club events.

8. Social Media & Public Commentary

All members must:

  • Avoid making negative, abusive, or defamatory comments about TFC, its members, or NZF on any platform.

  • Not provide public comments on behalf of the club unless authorised.

  • Ensure that social media use aligns with the values of TFC and NZF.

9. Disciplinary Actions

Serious breaches or repeated violations of the Code may result in:

  • Suspension from club activities.

  • Fines or financial penalties.

  • Expulsion from the club.

10. Commitment to a Positive Club Culture

TFC is committed to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and safe environment for all players, coaches, officials, and supporters. By adhering to this Code of Conduct, all members contribute to a stronger, more enjoyable football experience for everyone.

By being a part of Tahuna Football Club, you agree to abide by this Code of Conduct. Any breaches will be dealt with in accordance with club and NZF policies.
